The pub is located on the edge of the village of Caol and close to the entrance to the Caledonian Canal . Up to two real ales are served in high summer but none may be available out of season. Bar meals are offered. This pub is split into two rooms. The first is a bar with TV, pool and darts. The second is the eating area with large tables. The outside area offers good views over the Ben Nevis mountain range to the south- east. Although a few minutes walk from Banavie railway station which is the first stop on the line to Mallaig from Fort William station 6 minutes away, buses also run from Fort William. Neither are frequent. You can take an enjoyable walk from Ft William High Street, following the Great Glen Way footpath following the pedestrian bridge by the railway bridge over the River Lochy makes it just under three miles away, but allow the best part of an hour!
