Gordon and Morag Holding run the award winning Bandstand Bar which is a part of the Braeval Hotel, a family-run pub-hotel overlooking Nairn beach.
The hotel's Bandstand Bar won CAMRA District Pub of the Year 2016 (seventh time) and Highland PotY 2014 (third time). The bar has nine real ale pumps and is Cask Marque accredited with a wide selection of English and Scottish ales, featuring Cairngorm, Cromarty, Orkney and Swannay (formerly Highland) as well local microbrewery ales and usually at least one real ciders on hand pump. There are also gluten free beers available.
Flights of three selected beers in 1/3 pint glasses are available for those unsure about what to choose.
The bar hosts the largest independent beer festival in the Highlands every spring with around 150 ales and great live music throughout the event which starts just after Easter weekend. Although famed for its real ales, it is also a haven for whisky lovers with around 120 Scottish single malts and regular whisky nosing and tasting events.
The hotel benefits from spectacular sea views and is located close to Nairn town centre and between two championship golf courses. The lounge bar and residents “snug” both feature wood burning fires and there is also a spacious beer garden. The hotel has 10 en suite rooms, some with sea views. The hotel's Bandstand Restaurant is popular locally and offers lunch and dinner menus to suit all tastes. It has a Friday Steak Night and Sunday Carvery menus and a good range of vegetarian and gluten free dishes.
