Alexander Bain has to be the most northerly Wetherspoon in the UK!

This pub is named after the inventor Alexander Bain who was born on the outskirts of Wick in 1810. He invented the electric clock and designed an electromagnetic means of transmitting images.

Unlike other 'Spoon's in the UK, where there is a very wide selection of real ales, this outlet is realistic in considering the local demand and generally only has three on at any one time even during festivals. The real ale tends to be a bit cool, but that is because the cellar is "naturally" cold!

There are three main areas which include the bar area with its high vaulted ceiling, and two areas each side. (most recent visit 16/2/14)

Never closes before 11pm but depending on levels of business on Thursday to Saturday may remain open later
