The Ceilidh Place in Ullapool grew out of Broomview Cottage and was started in 1970 by the actor Robert Urquhart, who was born there in 1921. It started a small café in the boat shed with aspirations that it became a place for eating, meeting, talking and singing. It has achieved that aim and offers a quiet environment for meeting friends, or just having a coffee. A good selection of bottled Windswept available (note all Windswept beers are Real Ale in a Bottle, RAIB). The independent bookshop has grown year on year and has one of the widest selections on the North West Coast, catering for all ages and interests and also promotes Scottish literature. Well behaved children welcome. Accommodation includes rooms and bunkhouse. [Update 7 Aug 2022: Cromarty Red Rocker and Whiteout reported on the hand pumps]
