After many years of decline, the Phoenix is now a free house as it has been purchased by George Maclean who also has the Castle Tavern in town.

The main bar has been refurbished with a stylish centre gantry, however the iconic, listed island bar is otherwise unchanged with between six and ten real ales available split between Scottish and English breweries. There is usually an ale of the week sold at a promotional price. A selection of font beers are also available.

The adjoining lounge bar is now open and has been refitted throughout giving a relaxing area to dine and enjoy regular entertainment.

As with the legend, the Phoenix has risen from the sad ashes of its recent past, and has returned to its rightful former glory.
