See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.

The Old Forge is situated in a spectacular setting on the shore of Loch Nevis on the Knoydart peninsula, and provides an ideal location for walking the rough bounds of Knoydart.

In March 2022 it became one of only a handful of community-owned pubs in Scotland, now managed on behalf of the local community and visitors by The Old Forge Community Benefit Society.

The Old Forge relaunched in April 2022 with a focus on Scottish products, a friendly welcome and traditional Highland hospitality. Their house cask ale is supplied by Knoydart Brewery and the bar features a great selection of Scottish Gins, Rum’s Whisky’s as well as an excellent range of the usual pub staples.

Regular Scottish Traditional music sessions have been reinstated, and visitors are welcome to join in or start an impromptu session any time!

The Old Forge is known as ‘The Remotest Pub in Mainland Britain’. Knoydart is not connected to the mainland road network – it can only be reached by a seven-mile ferry crossing from Mallaig, a 16-mile hilly walk, or make use one of six moorings which welcome waterborne visitors. Info on getting there, accommodation and other services on the peninsula can be found on the Visit Knoydart website. Ferry services are provided by Western Isles Cruises.

Please note Inverie has no terrestrial mobile phone coverage, but free WiFi is widespread.
