Chateau-style hotel with beautiful gardens overlooking the colourful village square. Many original features, including the wood panelled public rooms, have been carefully preserved. The hotel is one of many in the historic Spa village of Strathpeffer which is used as a base for many touring the Highlands by those on coach parties and some independent "self-drive" bookings. An open veranda affords scenic views. Popular with coach parties. Daily evening entertainment. The Clan Bar in the main lounge is open to non-residents and is situated to the left of the reception and somewhat hidden by an internal wall. The single handpump serves Cairngorm Stag. Please note that demand for cask is volatile and unpredictable, so it may run out, or may not be available. At quiet times of the year the management may be reluctant to broach a fresh cask and risk a lot of wastage. However, bottled beers from Cairngorm are always available but these are not "real" but are pasteurised. The hotel and bar are generally closed in the first few weeks of the year. Re meal times:- Bar meals and snacks available most of the day. Many thanks to Neil Worthington, Trafford & Hulme branch who allowed the description to be updated, and for the image of the bar. [Update 12 September 2022: No real ale on, since the start of the pandemic in 2020.]
