The Dunollie Hotel is the largest on Skye and sits in the middle of Broadford at the foot of the mountains that lead to the Cuillin Hills. The hotel overlooks the old harbour with magnificent views across the sea to Loch Kishorn and the Applecross hills on the mainland. Only 7 miles from the Skye Bridge and 25 from Portree it is an excellent base from which to explore the "Misty Isle" of Skye and its rich in history. Broadford derives its name from Old Norse, meaning the wide bay. In later years, legend has it that Bonnie Prince Charlie gave the recipe for Drambuie to Clan MacKinnon, to thank the clan for helping him escape to France. The Hotel is popular with touring coach parties in Summer. Sadly (April 2017) the one hand pump has been taken out of the Lounge Bar and the Hotel no longer serves real ale.
